Who does this program benefit?
The F.I.T. Dad Program is provided to noncustodial fathers in Shelby County but any father who wants to improve their parenting skills is welcome. This is a second chance for men to be successful fathers by supporting their families financially, morally and emotionally. Besides providing a supportive and safe environment for men to become better dads, our goal is to protect and improve children's lives through educating and helping their parents.
What happens at the F.I.T. Dad Classes?
For 13 weeks, men dive into five main issues: Self-awareness, Taking Care of Themselves, Having Healthy Relationships with Family & Friends, Father Skills and Co-Parenting Skills using the curriculum, " 24/7 A.M. DAD and 24/7 P.M. DAD" from The National Fatherhood Intiative.
Every participant is given opportunities to overcome the obstacles that have hindered them and caused them to not meet their obligations as fathers. Many resources are made available in addition to receiving help in securing employment, obtaining a GED, legal advice, addiction support, group counseling, and one on one coaching. Each father has different issues that they are facing and FIT DAD works hard to address each person's individual challenges.

What happens at the end of the 13 week program?
At the end of this program, the fathers come together to discuss the developments each one has gone through and how it has affected their relationship and family life. They can continue to attend the program for free for as long as they feel they need it. Clients that have been mandated by the family court to attend the class must complete the entire 13 week program.
