Program Overview

VFS Youth Services Life Skills Training and Mentoring Program provides essential life skills, exercises, mentoring, and encouragement to help support youth and help them move in a positive direction towards healthy living and personal development.

Program Outcomes

Teacher and Student

Class Information

WHO: Youth ages 12-17

WHEN: Varies, during school hours

WHERE:  VFS Family Resource Center, Shelby County Regional Juvenile Detention Center, Department of Youth Services (DYS), Day Program, New Direction, and Pelham Park Middle School.

PROGRAM LENGTH: 8-12 Weeks (certificate upon completion)

All VFS classes are provided at no cost to the participant.

In home family services are available on a case-by-case basis.

Vineyard Court Services

Vineyard Court Services provides a 6-12 month program of in-home and mentoring services designed to assist parents who have children ages 12 or older that: have been or are currently in juvenile detention, are at-risk in being placed in juvenile detention, or are court-referred.

Mothers

WHO: Adults 18 and above

WHEN: Tuesday Evenings from 6:00-7:30pm

WHERE: VFS Main Office

PROVIDED: Dinner and Program Materials

NOT PROVIDED: Childcare (older children are welcome if they can entertain themselves)

Fathers

WHO: Noncustodial fathers in Shelby County, any father looking to improve their parenting skills

WHEN: Tuesday Evenings from 6:00-8:00pm

WHERE: VFS Family Resource Center

PROVIDED: Dinner and Program Materials
